MOSS GREEN ORGANICS
£2,879 – MICRO FUND – SEPT 2017
Moss Green Organics – established 2016, the business based in Glyncorrwg produces organic, handmade luxury soaps, currently sold to a shop in Pontardawe and a local farmers’ market, and soon to expand to county shows, craft fairs and Christmas markets. The next objective is to supply all organic shops in south Wales, gift, beauty and local produce shops – and then move on to hotels and beauty/spa outlets in the future.
They could only produce 22 bars of soap in any 24 hours, as once they had poured soap into moulds it must set for 24 hours before they can remove it to cut and cure it, then start the process all over again. The application was for soap cutters and moulds to give the product a uniform size and appearance giving a much more professional look to the business. The soap moulds, cutters and shrink wrapper will allow them to increase the volume of soap they can produce to meet near future demand. A web site is essential for a business like this in this time of online sales and social marketing and networking. This would give them the ability to link, verbal, social, networking and direct sales together, allowing all current and future customers to view and place orders for goods and pay direct.
“The soap cutter I purchased is excellent, web site up and running and taking online orders already. Unexpected business needs delayed project somewhat and I still have some items to purchase. I have seen a real improvement in quality and uniformity of soaps to match my labels and packaging” Quote from Lorraine Fish – Moss Green Organics
Customer Quotes: I highly recommend this company. The service I have received from Lorraine is exemplary. Five stars! / Thank you for the soaps. Hope to see you at Brecon Farmers Market again
The Fund was established by energy company Vattenfall to benefit the communities hosting the Pen y Cymoedd wind farm across the upper Neath, Afan, Rhondda and Cynon Valleys. It exists to support local people, groups and organisations to invest in themselves, their ideas and their communities.
The Community Fund has a substantial annual budget that is index-linked, meaning it increases in line with inflation. As an example, this equated to around £2.5 million in 2025. The Fund will continue to support communities until 2043, creating long-term opportunities for growth, resilience and positive change.
The Fund is managed by an independent, locally based not-for-profit Community Interest Company. It is overseen by a Board of Directors with strong local connections and delivered by a small but dedicated staff team with extensive community engagement experience. We are here to help ensure the Fund delivers on the vision and priorities of local communities.
Over the next 10 years, the Fund is focusing on investment in people, places and businesses — helping the Valleys to thrive, driving bold ideas, supporting transformation and creating lasting impact for current and future generations.
