£6,000 PyC funding helps Back2Front strengthen health and wellbeing services
Back2Front Physiotherapy Ltd has used a £6,000 grant from the PyC Community Fund to purchase an InBody Body Composition Analyser, helping the business expand its health and wellbeing offer and provide clients with more detailed, science-backed progress tracking.
The new equipment has been integrated into The Studio @ Back2Front’s fitness and rehabilitation programmes, giving clients a clearer picture of their progress beyond weight and BMI alone. The analyser supports the business’s 90-day goal review process, helping clients track changes such as muscle mass, body fat percentage and other health indicators over time.
Back2Front said the project has been “very successful”, opening the doors to a wider health-conscious audience and helping the business continue its journey from a sole physiotherapy provider into a wider wellbeing-focused service.
The investment has also created a new revenue stream, with the business now able to offer one-off body composition analysis appointments alongside its existing classes and rehabilitation support. By helping clients stay motivated and engaged, the new service has contributed to improved retention rates and supported the sustainability of the business’s workforce.
The funding has also helped Back2Front maintain strong financial health, allowing the business to plan for employee growth over the next 3–6 months. In its feedback, the business reported increased turnover and profit over the last six months and said it remains optimistic about the future.
Back2Front highlighted the importance of upfront funding for small businesses, noting that many businesses struggle to access grants that require initial capital investment before reimbursement.
Back2Front said: “A small investment in your business can make a huge difference to your bottom line. The PyC Community Fund makes this small investment possible, which has opened so many doors for business growth. If you are looking for investment, speak with PyC.”
This project reflects PyC’s commitment to supporting local businesses to diversify, grow and strengthen their long-term sustainability.
The Fund was established by energy company Vattenfall to benefit the communities hosting the Pen y Cymoedd wind farm across the upper Neath, Afan, Rhondda and Cynon Valleys. It exists to support local people, groups and organisations to invest in themselves, their ideas and their communities.
The Community Fund has a substantial annual budget that is index-linked, meaning it increases in line with inflation. As an example, this equated to around £2.5 million in 2025. The Fund will continue to support communities until 2043, creating long-term opportunities for growth, resilience and positive change.
The Fund is managed by an independent, locally based not-for-profit Community Interest Company. It is overseen by a Board of Directors with strong local connections and delivered by a small but dedicated staff team with extensive community engagement experience. We are here to help ensure the Fund delivers on the vision and priorities of local communities.
Over the next 10 years, the Fund is focusing on investment in people, places and businesses — helping the Valleys to thrive, driving bold ideas, supporting transformation and creating lasting impact for current and future generations.
